Welcome to this forum! Across the earth a mighty army of children and young people are emerging. They are rising up as an end time army who will take the gospel to the ends of the earth and shout to the nations that the King is coming! We get to train these children for such a time as this!

If you are wondering how to release your children into their God given destiny then let the questions come and we can begin a dialogue because there will not be time to train them later ... now is the time!

They were born for such a time as this!

As you said it is difficult to give an age as children vary so much in character develpment, spiritual maturity etc They key lies very much in the modelling for and releasing of children as far as childrens cells are concerned. I offered in another post an attachment that can help you to transition your thinking and structures to develop a model that will help you in this. Email me at daphnekirk@hotmail.com and I will send it to you (and any others who request it!!)

Having said that i have seen inner city kids of 8 years of age leading their own cells in their scholls, resourced and supported by their local church. They were INTENTIONALLY trained and prepared for this.

Children will to some extent naturally disciple their friends, but the most effective way is for them to have been discipled themselves through relevant material and then to "go and do likewise" I also have some material for this called "Living With Jesus" and childrens cell material called "Living With Jesus Together" that will experientially equip them to win their friends for Jesus.

Keep the questions coming - it is great to hear of your enthusiasm to firstly release your onw children and then to release others. This generation can fulfill the Great Commission if we train then "for such a time as this"

Daphne

Daphne,

Thank you for your reply...very helpful, very helpful. I am excited about my son one day leading his own cell. At what age are children/teens mature enough to lead a cell meeting without adult supervision? I'm sure each child/teen reach maturity levels at different ages, but do you have any ballpark ages regarding this issue. At what age are children capable of mentoring (one-on-one)their peers or younger friends through discipleship material? Is there material specifically developed for children to use to disciple one another in a cell ministry, that supports the authentic biblical community found in cells?

Thanks again,
Rev Kev

First my apologies for not responding sooner. I have been rushing around the world and sadly did not check in. (lesson learned!!)

So: to answer your questions. I have a small phrase "as with adults" which answers a ton of questions! E.g. you handle the discipleship of children in much the same way as adults.. by walking them through the "Win Consolidate, Disciple, Send" process.

I would hightly recommend your contacting Dr Oliver Goldenburg of Kensington Temple in London.

As for those of 15 and up leading cells... that is too late!! Children can lead cells from about the age of 7 years if the church INTENTIONALLY prepares them, trains them, resources and supports them. They can they go into their schools, streets and homes to make disciples themselves.

I hope that helps... more questions welcomed! Daphne

Hi Daphne,

I found out about you and your heart for kids through a friend that attended a cell ministry class at Regent University. The instructor, Dr Brickman, mentioned your name. I visited your website yesterday and am excited about the possibilities for discipling children through cell ministry.

My wife, son (9 months) and I will be moving soon to pastor a small church and we will be gently walking them through the transition from program-based ministry to cell ministry (G12 model...men with men, women with women, youth with youth). How have churches effectively handled the discipleship of children in this model? Are there churches/pastors that I could interact with to tap as a resource or use as a sounding board regarding this issue. The Regent grad that I mentioned earlier informed me that some models have youth (age 15 and up) lead the children's cells. Any info on that that you have would be of tremendous help.

Thanks and blessings!
Kev
